Call the Humane Society and other shelters in your area.
Call or visit your friends and neighbors.
Call Radio Station(s) in your area who announce lost and
found pets.
Visit Lost and Found Pets websites. If you do not
have a computer, use your library’s or ask a friend or your Vet if
you may use theirs.
Place an ad in your local & surrounding newspapers.
Make posters (we have 2 here for you to print) or flyers
to put in local stores, post offices, restaurants or
other places of business that allow notices to be
posted.
Taking a picture of your pet at least every other
month
assures you that if you pet is lost it will be more
recognizable on your posters and on the internet.
If you have lost a pet do all of the
above
and have the following at hand:
Your pet’s name, sex, age & how long your pet has been
missing.
Your name, address and phone numbers –
home, work & cell
Does your pet have a collar with tags? What color(s)
is the collar?
Does your pet have tattoos or identification implant?
The breed & color of your pet along with any distinguishing
marks or known injuries.
Any medication you pet may be taking & if you pet has all current shots.
The disposition/personality of your pet.
Does your pet respond to commands
and what commands are they?
Has your pet been spayed or
neutered?
Is your pet pregnant or recently
had a litter?
After you have found your pet:
Please make sure you call everyone you while your pet
was missing. That is the ONLY way they will know that
you have found your pet and they will also be able to
stop looking for him/her.
We have found these tips to be invaluable. And
discovered that most people simply do not know who to
call when they lose or find a pet. Please feel free to
print (click here) this information and give it to
friends, neighbors, local authorities and veterinarians.
